Ms. O'Neill 7th Grade Language Arts/Literature Class
Welcome to 7th grade language arts! I am excited about the opportunity to get to know you, and I am looking forward to a happy and productive school year. We will be covering a large range of materials this year so please feel free to contact me with any questions regarding your child’s schoolwork.
Classroom purpose
We each have a different purpose for being in this class. Your purpose is to do the best you can to learn, and my purpose is to help you learn. To support you in your learning I have written rules and consequences to bring about a good, positive learning environment so everyone can reach their goal.
Rules
In order for all students to receive the highest quality education possible, students must abide by these classroom polices: 1) Always show respect for everyone in the class. 2) Treat everyone the way you want to be treated. 3) Don't talk when someone else is talking. Wait your turn! 4) Come to class on time and with all needed materials. 5) When in doubt, always ask questions!
Materials
- Students are asked to bring the following supplies to school within the first week of classes: a binder specifically for language arts class, one notebook which they can keep in class for their journal, a set of dividers so students can keep their binders organized, and all other materials that are outlined in the 7th grade and all students supply list.
- If you forget something, you can borrow it from a peer or from the teacher if you ask before the bell rings. You should have any materials you need at your desk before the bell rings. This includes sharpening pencils!
- You will have six hall passes to utilize for the week for locker, restroom, etc. These are located on the current week within the agenda. Once you are out, you are out, so use them accordingly.
- Please try to utilize the restroom between classes. If need be, you may use a pass, but try to go during work time.
- If you do not have your agenda, you GO NOWHERE. You can always purchase an additional one if you lose yours.
- Teacher/office passes will be on a separate slip, will not be written in your agenda, and will not count against you six for the week.
· Will be accepted until the end of the current unit, then you will receive a 0. Any large assessments/assignments will be counted late if you do not use your class time effectively.
· If you forget to bring work to class, do not ask to get it. Turn it in before the bell rings or bring it in at the end of the day and place it in the tray designated for your class in the room.
